Cranes software offers Aerospace blockset 2 in India

Cranes Software International Ltd, a global scientific and engineering software products and solutions provider, on Wednesday announced the availability of a new flight gear flight simulator interface in the country.

The software called Aerospace blockset 2 was offered by Cranes along with Mathworks Inc, makers of Matlab and Simulink technical computing and simulation software.

Cranes Senior Vice-President Pradeep Kumar said the Aerospace blockset 2 was a more advanced version of its predecessor launched in India three years ago. It had several additional features and was capable of bringing quality flight simulation graphics to the desktop and made modelling and simulation more accessible and economical to the aerospace engineering community in India.

The new package not only bridged the gap between modelling, simulation and flight simulation graphics software, but also helped meet the growing demand for designing low-cost, high-endurance aerospace vehicles, according to Mathworks Industry Product Marketing Manager Jennifer Petrosky.

The new flightgear flight simulator interface builds on the foundation of Simulink and model-based design for aerospace vehicle modelling, simulation and visualisation. Additionally, it provided off-the-shelf, drag-and-drop representations of aerospace components using standards-based reference models. Consequently, engineers could use the Aerospace blockset 2 to optimise vehicle subsystem configurations and rapidly perform subsequent trade off studies earlier in the design stage, it said.
